A co-operative game for ages 5 and up. Little Bear is a challenging pathfinding game for the whole family. Players discuss their options on how to continue the path. It is possible to overcome some obstacles, but then we will have less time in the second part of the game. Will both bears get home before it gets too dark? The game includes a simple version for younger children, as well as two ways to make the game more challenging.
Review by our tester family:
Little Bear is a cooperative game of journey and rescue, working as a team to help Mama Best along a safe path to rescue her cub it encourages sharing, conversation, imagination, play and forward thinking.
The game pieces are beautifully designed and we particularly like the wooden bear playing tokens and the way the game box becomes part of the board.
The simplest version of this game is straight forward to play, and although the box says ‘age 5+’it could be managed by a younger child with an adult playing alongside. The main strength of the game is that the designers have created all sorts of expansions and extras to enhance game play and make it more challenging. Once you master rescuing Little Bear you can race against the rising moon to save him before bedtime or add in the skunk card for a new (and very funny) obstacle for Mama Bear!
